One reason why blogs have become popular is that people want a short read. Imaginative and fiction blogs are a great way to take a break out of a busy day and be entertained. So are short stories.
Peter Rake’s second short story is now available on Amazon, easy to read on a desktop, laptop, tablet, Kindle, eReader or even a phone.
This short story is a little more serious than the first (Notty: Targaroo’s Disgrace Bar-fly, bludger and sneak-thief turned unlikely hero). The main protagonist finds himself at a crossroads in life and there’s nothing like the solitude of the outback to put things into perspective.
“The night was revealing its mystery to Pete, and he looked about, and discovered that no matter in which direction he looked there was no break in the dark horizon. The stars created enough light in this clear, pristine cathedral sky to give a shadowy definition between earth and ‘the heavens’, as Pete was thinking of them at this time. Fascinated, Pete tried his hardest to see some shape, some tree, maybe some flicker of light from a long way off homestead. Nothing, just flatness, and distance, a vast magnificence of space where he alone was the only figure that may be visible, as a shadow, in this night.”
